OHSRA __________________________________________ february 2010 Team Newsletter OHSRA Members,
Thanks to everyone for such a great turn out for the 2009-2010 Mid Winter Meeting. First of all I would like to thank your student representatives for a job well done. Callie, Sara, Jessica and Morgan expressed the thoughts of the team and represented the OHSRA members with a great voice.
The board meeting was held @ 11:00 and over ran till 1:15. Thank you for waiting. Members were told of rodeo dates and voted on colors of shirts. The High School team will have brown shirts with teal lettering. The Wrangler Division will be sporting tie-dyed shirts, with black lettering. Members turned in grade cards, sponsorship money and signed off on their total points for the fall go's.
Those members that were not in attendance or other members, not in current standing:
You must meet with the points chairman, Ryan Corzatt to sign off on your fall points, if you do not sign off by the next rodeo, the points will be considered as agreed upon by yourself and will not be changed.
Also, you must have your current grade card on file with the Secretary, Kenny Lensman (or Mindy). If you do not have a current grade card on file you will not be permitted to rodeo.
Note: *Sponsorships are due prior to the next rodeo or your points will not count, you can still rodeo, but your points will not count and points will not be retro active. This means if you score points, they will be recorded as a "0". When the sponsorship is paid, your points (post-payment) will then count for the rest of the season.
Our first rodeo will be in April @ the Champaign County Fairgrounds, please check the rodeo schedule for complete information. We will need some help, we are having a fundraiser on Friday night. We will be hosting a Team Sorting for all to compete. We will be offering paybacks with each division run. We would like for you to compete, but if you are not...please come early on Friday night to help out. Remember we are doing this for you... Parents, the same goes, we would love to cheer you on as you compete for the fastest time, but if not... we will need your help! We need flaggers, help with the cattle, timers etc.
Also, Cheryl Oberdier is coordinating the concession stand for April. Each member is required to bring a donation. I will post a list of needs on the rodeo schedule and times for you to sign up and work.
Keep checking the website... the rodeo schedule... for entry forms. You will be mailing those in to the specified person/contractor. I will keep you posted through the newsletter and schedule. Check out the "other events in the area"...there is a rodeo school for bareback/saddlebronc, links to goat tying videos...if you see something of interest and think others can benefit, email me... lensmanmk@embarqmail.com and I will post to the website.
Thanks,
Kenny Lensman
Secretary, OHSRA
Thanks kids, we are honored to be a part of OHSRA, your association. You are a select few that represent the youth of today, living out the western heritage, competing in the arena and being friends outside the arena. We are proud of all of you. ---OHSRA Parents.

10/16/2009 Well we have quite a bit of good news to pass on! We made our hopefully final trip to the orthopedic surgeon yesterday! Brianna is doing wonderfully. Fractures on both sides of the pelvis are almost fully healed.( I have been
making her drink milk like no other and giving her vitamins everday.) He discontinued the wheelchair and onto full time walking with the walker. Physical therapy sessions will be scheduled if needed, but at this point she is just needing to excercise her muscles again. All excellent news. Of course, Brianna being Brianna, the next question was when could she ride again! The answer was, after she feels comfortable walking on her own, she may start sitting in the saddle on perhaps sawhorses to see how she will feel with the pressure. Brianna is very excited because Dr. Albers then told her that if she felt comfortable doing that, she could start off doing something on a smaller animal. Still a definite few weeks away, and no winter rodeo, but she will definitely be antsy come spring. Thanks again for all the well wishes! Brianna, David and I all hope to come to a springfield rodeo maybe next month if possible. Hope everyone on your end is doing well!
